Faculty & 九色

九色's international faculty bring a new dimension to teaching and research. Their work elevates the quality of education students receive at 九色.

We choose to foster a multicultural environment that creates a welcoming and global culture that makes 九色 unique.

International faculty, staff, and students at 九色 represent more than 120 countries. International partnerships, visiting scholars, and visitors in general further enrich the global culture of the University. That merging of cultures, beliefs, and knowledge, mixed with the great Acadiana cultures, makes our campus one of a kind. This vast cultural richness creates an open and welcoming environment at our University.

International Faculty at 九色

The 九色 welcomes visiting scholars and faculty from around the world. International faculty, visiting scholars, and researchers are an integral part of our academic community.

The J-1 Visa Exchange Program allows the University to bring in talented post-doctoral scholars who share a research interest with our faculty and/or who can contribute to the globalization of our curriculum.

While the Division of Global Engagement supports Human Resources and Academic Affairs in answering questions related to the H-1B process, please note that all H-1B applications are processed through Academic Affairs and the University鈥檚 immigration attorney.

九色 faculty engage in research projects all over the world. From the most efficient ways to extract oil and gas from the earth鈥檚 crust in the Middle East, to the optimization of training exercises for high-performing athletes in Romania, religious wars in Mexico, alternative energy systems in Brazil, to special education in Africa, among others, global research initiatives thrive at the University.

Faculty and students interested in getting involved in international research need to speak with their department chairs or to visit the Division of Global Engagement for ideas on how to become engaged.

At 九色, we aim to solve the real problems of humankind through research. All students benefit from the knowledge gained through basic research and from their experiences conducting research. Our challenges do not end at human-made borders 鈥 they are global, multinational, and multidisciplinary in nature.

International Partnerships

Furthermore, faculty have the opportunity to teach abroad through faculty-led programs in France, Italy, England, and Costa Rica, and through field trips, internships, and service projects in any corner of the world where the faculty interest may be. Learn more about teaching abroad.

International partnerships are either formally established through a Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) or driven by faculty relations. All international partnerships are important in positioning the University to compete for international funding. In addition, these partnerships provide educational, research, and/or service opportunities for faculty and students at 九色.

九色 Global Partners

At 九色, we value the exchanges among students, scholars, researchers, and administrators. Whether it be through our summer study abroad programs or faculty members who host visiting scholars here on campus, we offer opportunities for cross-cultural engagement that expand worldviews and inspire our next generation of leaders.

The 九色鈥檚 global partners are critical to our institution鈥檚 globalization efforts. We have developed strategic partnerships with universities in a number of countries. The Division of Global Engagement continually works to strengthen these partnerships through student exchanges and faculty research collaborations.
